Mount Saint Vincent University Student Union fonds

Fond consists of textual records and photographs relating to Mount Saint Vincent University's Student Union. The contents of this collection were largely created by the student council members and administration at MSVU. The largest series within this collection is administrative materials but there are also many documents relating to events, publications such as the Student Handbook and student newspaper (the Picaro), financial documents, documents relating to Student Union regulations, the Student Union’s businesses and services, as well as committees on which student council members serve, Student Union projects, and documents relating to non-traditional Mount students and the organizations to which they belong. The Mount Saint Vincent University Student associations included within the fonds are at least partially governed by executive members of the Student Union.

Ruth Noonan Wright fonds

This fonds contains a scrapbook created by Ruth Noonan Wright. The scrapbook documents Wright's time as a student at Mount Saint Vincent Academy (graduated 1953) and later as a mature student at Mount Saint Vincent University (1972-1975). The scrapbook contains photographs,newspaper clippings, handwritten text detailing Wright's memories of the Mount, original pencil drawings, and ephemera of the Mount's student activities.

Fonds consists of a time schedule card from Mount Saint Vincent College used by Patsy McIntyre to record her classes and what time they started. Classes included religion, philosophy, typing, and shorthand. Also includes a copy of the Student Government Association Constitution.

Fonds consists of records created as a result of the administration of the Canadian Society for the Study of Religion/ Societe canadienne pour l'etude de la religion (CSSR/SCER) and consists of minutes, agendas and correspondence of the Executive Committee in English and in French (1979-1988, 1990-1994, 2000-2001); the CSSR/SCER Bulletin, published twice a year (1986- 1987,
1990-1999, 2001-2002); president's correspondence and papers (1981-1986, 1989-1994, 2002); the CSSR/SCER constitution (1977).

Fonds also consists of records created by the membership secretary, including correspondence (1979-1984, 2002), reports (1979-1984, 2000) and membership lists (1979-1985); financial records and membership accounts (1974- 1980).

Fonds includes photocopies made in 2002 of CSSR/SCER material from the National Archives covering the years 1977-1981, as well as a finding aid to the material held at the National Archives (ca. 1981-1987); Survey of Religious Studies in Canadian Universities (1982); agendas, minutes, programmes and call for papers of the annual meeting of the CSSR/SCER (1982, 1984-1988, 1990-1991); JAHR Bulletin (1987-1991, 2004) and IAHR correspondence (1980-1984, 1988-1990); correspondence with the Council on the Study of Religion (1975-1976); correspondence relating to essay prizes awarded by the CSSR/SCER, including the Molson Prize (1993); Plan quinquennal
(1985-1986) and papers related to the Societe Quebecoise pour l 'Etude de la Religion (1988-1994); annual meeting agendas, reports and other papers of the Canadian Corporation for Studies in Religion (1987-1990); correspondence related to the Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines/SSHRC (1988-1990) and other material related to the CSSR/SCER.

MSVU Family Life Institute fonds

Fonds consists of textual records created and accumulated by the Family Life Institute from its creation in 1972 to its closing in 1979. The fonds consists of the following series: Reports, Financial records, Correspondence, Member Lists, Meeting minutes, and Coursework. In the Reports series, records include discussions of future courses, activities to be performed in those courses, bibliographies of potential readings for those courses, evaluation of the Institute’s success by participants, locations of campus facilities, and checklists assessing participants’ progress in the program. In the Financial records series, there are budget lists and grant funding documents, including invoices, petty cash statements, purchase requisitions, and monthly budget statements. In Correspondence, there are letters regarding the participation of individuals in the Family Life Institute summer program, plans for implementing the Family Life Institute during the summer, various incomplete letters addressed to corporate and government institutions, and letters regarding the employment of individuals in the Institute. In the Member lists series, there are records regarding student enrolment in the Family Life Institute, as well as lists of staff members and teachers who taught courses at the Institute. In Meeting minutes, there are records of various councils, such as the Advisory Councils on Family Life Education held from 1972-1975, committees (such as the nucleus committee’s Nova Scotia conference on family life from 1971-1974), and meeting minutes (such as the minutes of a series of meetings discussing the possibility of a Family Life Institute at Mount Saint Vincent University in 1972). In Coursework, there are records pertaining to the types of evaluation that students would complete to pass their courses, as well as records that highlighted other courses on family life education provided by other institutions. These records range in date from 1972-1979.

Constance Baird fonds

Fonds consists of programmes for recitals and commencements held at Mount Saint Vincent Academy from 1928-1930, collected by Constance McGrath Baird while attending the Academy as a student. Fonds also includes a photo album and a Bachelor of Arts Hood from the first Mount Convocation in May 1929, donated by Connie Baird.

William MacDonald archival collection

The William MacDonald archival collection contains accompanying material to the Mount's rare book collection. This includes correspondence between Head Librarians Sister Francis de Sales and Sister Francis Delores with William MacDonald, inventory books of books received at the Mount, research and work done with the collection by Mount Librarians, and information on a high-profile theft that took place in the Reading Room of the collection. Finally, the collection also contains damaged books that have been removed from the main reading room for conservation purposes.

Nova Scotia Women's History Society fonds

Fonds consist of records created and accumulated by the Nova Scotia Women’s History Society (NSWHS) including financial reports, budgets, meeting agendas and minutes, by-laws, member lists, media releases, correspondence, and grant applications, as well as slides, photographs, newspaper clippings, and pamphlets pertaining to NSWHS initiatives. Materials came from Janet Guildford and Sharon MacDonald, two founding members and first two chairs of the society.

Fonds also consist of records relating to the planning and installation of the WOW [Woman on the Waterfront] project (2013-2017) including artist agreements, technical drawings, budgets, promotional brochures, fundraising activities, correspondence, and historical research compiled by NSWHS members.
