The Mount Saint Vincent University Library and Archives fonds consists of records pertaining to and accrued by MSVU’s Library and Archives. Fonds contains administrative records, including information on building management, written histories of the Library, newsletters and bulletins, annual reports, surveys produced by the Library, licence agreements, cataloguing information, circulation statistics, acquisitions, purchases, and budgets as well as collective agreements.

Fonds also consists of meeting minutes and notes from various internal and external committees and associations the Library has participated in, including the Novanet Management Committee, the Senate Library Committee, CanCopy, the Faculty Association, Internet Society, and College and University Systems Exchange (CAUSE). Records contain library associations as well, including the Association of Atlantic University Librarians’ Council (AAULC), the American Library Association (ALA), the Atlantic Provinces Library Association (APLA), and the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) among others.

Fonds also consists of records pertaining to staff, including general information on positions and staffing as well as materials from previous University Librarians and Collections Librarians. Fonds also contains correspondence between various library staff with MSVU faculty members, administrators, and other staff.

Series includes general information on staffing and library positions, correspondence between Library staff and other MSVU staff and faculty members, as well as records donated by particular librarians from their tenure, often pertaining to specific projects.

Nova Scotia Women's History Society fonds

Fonds consist of records created and accumulated by the Nova Scotia Women’s History Society (NSWHS) including financial reports, budgets, meeting agendas and minutes, by-laws, member lists, media releases, correspondence, and grant applications, as well as slides, photographs, newspaper clippings, and pamphlets pertaining to NSWHS initiatives. Materials came from Janet Guildford and Sharon MacDonald, two founding members and first two chairs of the society.

Fonds also consist of records relating to the planning and installation of the WOW [Woman on the Waterfront] project (2013-2017) including artist agreements, technical drawings, budgets, promotional brochures, fundraising activities, correspondence, and historical research compiled by NSWHS members.

Series consists of financial records belonging to the Nova Scotia Women’s History Society (NSWHS). The series contains financial statements (2013-2019), financial reports (2013-2020) including membership donations, general ledgers, and revenue reports from fundraising activities. Series also includes budgets, invoices, insurance files (2017-2018), and correspondence with CRA officers (2018-2020) as well as a CRA registered charity forms book (2018).

Series consists of administrative records created by the Nova Scotia Women’s History Society (NSWHS) including meeting agendas, minutes from board meetings (2012-2017) and from Annual General Meetings (2013-2020), NSWHS’ by-laws, codes of conduct (2018), membership lists (2014-2015), newsletter drafts (2018), and logo designs. Series also includes correspondence between NSWHS members, with other Nova Scotia organizations, and with members of the public.

Series consists of administrative files created by the Teaching and Learning Centre, including meeting notes and reports from the Continuing Education committee and sub-committee (1978-1986), the Senate committee on Continuing Education (1973-1977), and CAPP: the Committee on Academic Policy and Planning (2007, 2012). Series also consists of director’s meetings notes (1987-1988), communications from MSVU’s President (2000-2014), Continuing Education reviews (1988-1995), notes from the Continuing Education Task Force (1981-1988), Continuing Education consultations (2011-2012), MSVU strategic plans (1987-1990, 2010-2017), and Faculty collective agreements (2000-2019), as well as annual reports (1972-1993), summer school session reports (1973-84, 2004-2006), and CAUCE (Canadian Association for University Continuing Education) environmental scans (1992) and correspondence (2007-2015).

Series contains surveys from non-traditional students (1986), adult students (1984-1986), and first year students (2004), as well as activities produced by the Teaching and Learning Centre including the 30th year anniversary (2010-2012), various lecture series (2011-2017), programs and workshops (1987-2003), and course offerings and course development (1992-2018).

Series also consists of informational materials including media guides (2000, 2002), promotional pamphlets (1980-2015), written histories of MSVU and the Teaching and Learning Centre (1972-2015), and various publications of Folia Montana (2001-2004).

Mount Saint Vincent University Art Gallery fonds

Fonds consists of records pertaining to the Mount Saint Vincent University Art Gallery, including annual reports (1969-2003), biennial reports (1988), and administrative and promotional material from its opening (1966-1970). Fonds also consists of records related to events and exhibitions at the Gallery, including catalogues, publications, and promotional brochures and posters published by the Gallery (1970-2020), calendars of events and programs (1972-1978), and correspondence between the Gallery and artists regarding their art and exhibitions (1968-1971).

Fonds also contains scrapbooks with newspaper clippings related to the Gallery (1972-1976), a scrapbook with photographs of Gallery programming, and visitor sign-in books (1971-1974).

Fonds consists of records pertaining to Mount Saint Vincent University’s Teaching and Learning Centre (previously the Distance Learning and Continuing Education department). Fonds also consists of records related to DUET (Distance University Education via Television) as well as other projects and initiatives supported by the Centre. Records related to online learning and programming are included as well.

Research

Series consists of research materials compiled by members of the Nova Scotia Women’s History Society (NSWHS). Contents include primary sources documenting Halifax activities during World War II and the 1917 explosion, notes on Canadian census records in Halifax from 1921-1999, photographic slides and prints of Halifax during the twentieth century, and notes on African Nova Scotian community members (predominantly teachers) in Truro including Martha Jones (b. 1877-1914).
