Contents of the file include:
A letter dated 6 Jan 1967 to Reverend Sister Therese Carmel from John. J.C. Shelly of Winnipeg, Manitoba, detailing their meetings, and mutual appreciation for paintings and art, art acquired during travels in Ireland, and John J. C. Shelly’s desire to find and send Sister Therese Carmel his copy of Irish Life and Landscape.

Copy of Eire Ireland: Bulletin of the Department of External Affairs with a message from Eamon de Valera, President of Ireland, on the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day 1967.

Letter dated 4 august 1966: Letter from John J.C. Shelley to Sister Therese Carmel informing Sister that pictures (two oil paintings as referred to in next letter) will be sent soon and that he is giving her a letter from Mrs. Margaret Clarke, R.H.A. (Royal Hibernian Academy) who painted the big picture “Mary and Brigid”. In the letter she describes the work.

A letter dated 3 July 1969 from Shelly to Sister Carmel noting 2 oil paintings were boxed and crated and sent to her at the Motherhouse. The paintings are “Winner Time county limerick” by Dermod O’Brien PRHA, and “La tour de la cloche – la Rochelle” By Lee Hankly(?) .

Ttwo Margaret Clark letters to Mr. Shelly, stating the picture “Mother and Child” [sic] was sent from Liverpool via SS Montrose to Winnipeg. Second letter is a description of “Mary and Brigid” by Clarke.

Letter dated 26 June 1968 in which Mr. Shelly says he is enclosing letter from Clarke and the Christmas card. Also mentions he will bequeath this painting if Sister Carmel is interested.

Letter dated 27 June 1969 letter to Sister Margaret Flahiff expressing similar things to previous letter notably that paintings will be boxed soon and delivered to the Motherhouse.
