Biographical history
Ken Dewar grew up in Edmonton and taught at the University of Victoria, Wilfrid Laurier, and Carleton before coming to the Mount in 1982. He also owned a bookstore for a number of years in Elora, Ontario. He retired in June 2011 and was awarded Professor Emeritus status in the Department of History.

The Committee work series contains records relating to Dr. Kenneth Dewar’s participation in various university committees, mainly at Mount Saint Vincent University.
Professor Dewar was an active member and chair of the History Department at MSVU. Files related to this committee work include statistical information about the history department that were discussed in meetings, such as enrolment, faculty and academic plan data. The records also include memos, correspondence and evaluations. Agenda and meeting minutes cover announcements, regular business and issues related to the university or departmental programs.
Other committee files cover work done with the Library Committee, Committee on Academic Policy and Planning, Arts & Science Promotion Committee, Strategic Planning, Bookstore Consultative Review Committee. The series also contains documents, such as reports, relevant for discussions in these committees, including academic implications of disproportionate funding, the Dalhousie-Mount shuttle bus, senate, evaluations, planning documents, and reviews, among others.
There is also a copy of Insight Vol. 4 No. 2, Jan 1975 filed within the records.
